Geometrics

Top Raoul via Saks | Pants Rebecca Minkoff | Heels Zara | Wrist J.Crew | Sunnies RayBan

It wasn't until I saw these pictures that I realized my Zara heels looked like flats from the front and heels from the back...interesting - I guess that's kind-of fun?! Anywho, I found these pants at the Rebecca Minkoff sample sale I was at a few weeks ago and I nearly died when I saw the front zip detail at the hem. How adorbs? They were a must (as most things are).

Style Inspiration || Keri Russell

I haven't really seen much of Keri Russell since she her TV show "Felicity" on the WB (I've tried relentlessly to forget about that less-than enthralling movie "Waitress" in 2007 - yikes). However, when a picture of her from the television show "The Americans" press event was featured in InStyle this past October, I was beyond floored. Goodbye 90's built-in-bra spaghetti-strap tank tops, hello classy and chic! I absolutely die for her all-cream ChloƩ ensemble. Everything about it - from the tucked in blouse to her flat-front crops - makes me happy. I had to look further into the style evolution that was Keri Russell.

Come to find out, she killed it at "The Americans" New York premiere and cast party, too! This girl seriously knows how to reflect the perfect balance of classy and sexy in her outfit choices. Those leather leggings: Wow. (My must-have and most-treasured item of clothing). But that asymmetrical sleeveless Alexander McQueen top is jaw-dropping. What you can't see from this picture is the exposed black zipper on the back of the top that runs from the nape of her neck all the way down to the hem. Amazing.

Keri Russell is doing everything right and all of us should consider taking a page out of her stylebook. Waitress no more.

The Working Fashionista

When I first saw this Suno peplum top in the January 2013 issue of InStyle, I instantly fell in love. I immediately ripped out the page, hung it on my fashion-inspiration board and have been staring at it longingly ever since. (The price tag may not necessarily match up with my college student budget, but a girl can dream, right?) I mean, what's not to love? This top has texture, shape, color-contrast, and can work for almost any occasion depending on what you pair it with on the bottom.

Because I am about to graduate and move into the real world, I am constantly thinking about how to create trendy, fashion-forward outfits that are professional and work-appropriate. This outfit does just that. I love these Malene Birger cropped pants because of their front-zipped ankle feature, which creates a "slit" look at the bottom. This feature on the pants will pair beautifully with the slit nature of the peplum on the Suno top. The high waist on the pants will also guarantee that you're not showing any skin at work (a definite good thing). Add a black strappy sandal to make this outfit perfect for a day at the office and even some after-work drinks with friends!
