Geometrics

Top Raoul via Saks | Pants Rebecca Minkoff | Heels Zara | Wrist J.Crew | Sunnies RayBan

It wasn't until I saw these pictures that I realized my Zara heels looked like flats from the front and heels from the back...interesting - I guess that's kind-of fun?! Anywho, I found these pants at the Rebecca Minkoff sample sale I was at a few weeks ago and I nearly died when I saw the front zip detail at the hem. How adorbs? They were a must (as most things are).

Feelin like Gold

Top American Apparel | Skirt Theory (no longer on sale) | Kicks Michael Kors | Bag Michael Kors | Sunnies RayBan | Wrist J.Crew (no longer sold, similar here & here) | Neck Vintage Chain | Lips BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Gloss in Maverick

These sneakers are one of the greatest purchases I have ever made and I refuse to take them off. I can walk around NYC for days in them and they add a touch of glam slash trendy-chicness to all of my outfits. Obessssssssssssssed.

News, News, News

I have a sickening obsession with fashion magazines and fashion-news sites, so I figure why not pull together some info and turn it into a blog post. Knowledge is wealth, right? Enjoy xx

Chocolate

Top (old), Necklace (old), BanglesShorts & Shoes J.Crew (oops?)

Kitty and I spent a not-so-quiet Sunday in Times Square shopping and people watching. We somehow found the Godiva chocolate store and spent some of our afternoon oogling all of the chocolate and in the end we couldn't resist making a few purchases. I recommend the Coconut Truffle and the Chocolate Covered Oreo (I'm a sucker for anything Oreo...or anything chocolate for that matter). Times Square was quite the experience, but I think the only reason I ever have to go back would be solely for the chocolate.

Trench

Trench Burberry | Scarf American Eagle (old) | Jeans J.Crew Factory | Flats Tory Burch (similar here) | Rings David Yurman, Pandora | Glasses Kate Spade | Bag Michael Kors | Lips Khroma Beauty Sea Coral

I received this trench coat as my graduation-from-college gift from my parents when I graduated this past May and I absolutely treasure it - it's such a classic piece that will be a staple in my wardrobe forever. It was chilly in NYC over the weekend and I was so excited to have an excuse to break out my new coat a little earlier than expected.

weekend bucket list

Next week, I will be moving from one area in NYC to another, so this weekend I plan to keep things very low-key. I am obsessed with Mary-Kate and Ashley and their clothing line Elizabeth and James, so when I saw they were introducing handbags to the collection I was thrilled. You can read the Neiman Marcus interview with MK&A about their handbag-launch here. I will also be throwing myself into the book Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg after its amazing (and sometimes controversial) reviews about women and leadership in the US.

NYC has some amazing local food markets all across the city, inspiring Kate and I to visit a new one each week…this weekend it’s UnionSquare Green Market at 5th Avenue and 17th street. We will also be trying to get to the “When Fashion Danced” exhibit at The Museum of the City of New York, as it is in its last few days of exhibition.

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is always the best time to shop for pre-fall clothes because the discounts are unbelievable. I am tracking down these coated jeans, these calf-hair loafers and this pleated skirt.  I am also hoping to get to the Claire Vivier trunk show on the Highline at the Standard Hotel because her clutches come in the cutest prints and are the perfect size for a day of exploring NYC and heading out for a night on the town.

Kate and I will also be making our way to SweetGreen restaurant that just opened in NYC on Thursday. They have the most outstanding service and the most delicious healthy, local, organic and sustainable food (& large portions – if its healthy you can eat the whole thing, right?). I have a minor-league obsession with lemonade and was blissfully overwhelmed with the variety of flavors – I went with the Blueberry Basil. See if they have one in your neighborhood here.

After the big move next Thursday, I will be heading on vacation to the beach with my family. Beach-trips are always the perfect excuse to browse for sunglasses everywhere you go and these Tiffany’s cat eye sunnies with a bow detail are adorable and perfect for the beach and the city.

Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s is finally coming to DVD this weekend and I will be the first in line to purchase it. The film is a documentary about Bergdorf Goodman and its reputation in the fashion industry – and features many top-designers and fashion legends speaking on the store.  Fashion documentaries are one of my favorite things in the world.

Lastly, after finishing up with my second week of work and beginning to pack for the move, I’ll be thinking, “I’ve got designer bags under my eyes” (but really, if you have to have bags under your eyes, why not have designer bags?).

xx

while I was browsing...

As my parents can attest, I have always had a gift for creating lists on lists of "must-have" items I have recently seen or read about. While browsing the internet on my day off today, I found a few knick-knacks that caught my eye and wanted to share them with you all.

The Park

Dress Mossimo via Target | Sandals Jack Rogers | Ring Lulus (old) | Bracelet J.Crew | Earrings J.Crew Factory (old)

Last night, Kate and I went out for dinner at The Park restaurant in the Meatpacking District. I have been dying to go since I walked past their "Garden House" dining room, which opens up to the street allowing passers-by to see the beautiful Japanese maple trees growing right through the floors up to the ceiling. The Garden has a casual yet chic elegance to it, and my maxi dress (which ended up matching the decor) was the perfect happy-medium between relaxed and fancy.
